WB2LUA Radio Installation

The Street Pilot III GPS unit was mounted using the RAM mount directly to the garmin mounting bracket. It is connected directly to the Kenwood D7A for APRS. The Kenwood is mounted to a piece of plastic (from a radar mount) and held in place with velcro and a large o-ring from the radar mount. The plastic is attaced to the RAM mount.

A 3/4" wooden bottom is screwed to the bottom-inside of the trunk bag to prevent sagging onto the luggage rack. A metal bracket attaches to the trunk bag and is bolted through the 3/4" wooden bottom. The bracket can be reversed so that the antenna extends from the front side of the bag. A diamond 5/8 wave antenna and lip mount is attached to the bracket. Using the (optional) lip mount allows one to change the angles of the antenna.
