Making Your Helmet Fit Perfectly

John, WB2LUA

Unless you have a perfect head, your helmet will not fit perfectly. Many people have a wide jaw. If they get a helmet that fits their head, it will be too tight in the jaw. If they get a helmet that fits their jaw, it will be too loose around the head. A helmet should fit snuggly around the head without causeing pain or major discomfort. You should be able to move your head from side to side and from front to back without the helmet moving while the chinstap is untied. Here is one method for making the helmet fit perfectly. Get a helmet that fits without causing pain or major disomfort in any part of the head, which will probably be too large for other parts. Get a roll of cottom from a pharmacy. Cut the cotton with a scissor and insert it under the liner in the appropriate places until you get a perfect fit.
